The Šparžin Tourism and Cultural Association is a voluntary, non-profit and independent organisation that has been the heart of cultural and tourist life in Korte and the surrounding area for almost two decades.
Our story
The association officially began in 2007 (with formal registration in early 2008). We were founded with a clear vision: to contribute to integrated, sustainable and responsible tourism in our area, while preserving what matters most — our natural and cultural heritage and genuine human relationships.
We chose the name Šparžin for a reason. In the local dialect it means wild asparagus, which springs up among Istrian scrubland in spring. It is a symbol of perseverance, connection to the land, and of the simple yet outstanding Istrian cuisine we proudly promote.
Vision and values
- Sustainable tourism — development hand in hand with protecting nature.
- Care for the village — maintaining paths and the surroundings of old water sources.
- Community and cooperation — working with the tourist association, local farmers, providers and the Korte branch school.
President and legal representative Rozana Prešern, together with members and volunteers, ensures that every visitor to Korte is welcomed with open arms, a warm smile and a piece of homemade štrukelj.
